You can connect in two very easy steps:
From the hub:
You can find detailed walthrough in the documentation https://compute.safe-frankfurt.de/docs/map_network_drive.pdf
For mac:
You can also connect to the cluster by using SSH in the terminal (or command prompt).
# type
# ssh <HRZ username>@safe-gpu01.safe-frankfurt.de
# and then enter the HRZ Password
# then the terminal is running on the server and you can have access to the
# SAFE drives.
Finally you can also run your code directly from your own Terminal (or Command Prompt) application without using the hub. You can also find info on this on the documentation (https://compute.safe-frankfurt.de/docs/tmux.pdf).
tmux new -s <session_name> # create a session
# press: ctrl+b, d
# to detach from a session
tmux ls # list running sessions
tmux attach -t <session_name> # to attach to running session
tmux kill-session -t <session_name> # to close specific session outside of tmux
exit # to close session from within the session
It is also possible to access the cluster directly through an IDE. Here I will go over PyCharm and Visual Studio Code. You can also find resources in the documentation (https://compute.safe-frankfurt.de/docs/presentation.pdf).
The steps are relatively easy:
Maybe there is still an issue with the interpreter. Then you can select "Add interpreter" at the bottom right. Go to SSH interpreter and then enter the Host and the HRZ credentials one more time.
Finally we will look at Visual Studio Code.
The steps are the following:
Also you may need to install the Python extension on the server side.
In Visual Studio Code you can also run Julia and R.
